Devil's Corner Chardonnay 2008

This wine is a bright mid straw colour with distinct green tinges. Very fresh and appealing, there are zesty lemon/citrus aromas alongside some riper yellow peach and banana. The overall impressions provided by this wine are crisp, clean and refreshing. There are zingy citrus flavours of lemon and grapefruit, just a hint of nutmeg spice and some riper yellow peach and nectarine flavours that linger on the finish. The finish is dry with some subdued astringency giving definition to the palate.

Serve it with some fresh Tassie seafood, a creamy risotto or a pan-fried chicken breast.

Kayena Vineyard Chardonnay 2008
This Chardonnay is a bright mid-straw colour with tinges of green. The primary fruit aromas of citrus and grapefruit with hints of yellow peach are backed up by spicy oak complexity and an underlying layer of honey and butterscotch from malolactic fermentation.

The initial impression is of crisp, tangy citrus fruit flavours with an attractive level of nutty oak complexity and creamy malolactic characters giving weight and interest to the mid-palate. There is a good persistence of flavour on the finish with a pleasant level of tannin grip and the acid balance to leave the palate clean and refreshed.

Serve lightly chilled with chicken in a white wine sauce or a pasta dish such as ricotta and spinach tortellini.

Notley Gorge Chardonnay 2006

This chardonnay has a very appealing bouquet exhibiting aromas of melons, vanilla and honey. Bright, pale straw in colour, there is fresh, ripe mouth-filling fruit on the front of the palate with splashes of green apples and white pears. The mid-palate is full and round with a good weight of fruit leading to a finish that is fine with fresh acidity while maintaining softness, structure and delicacy.

Great for summer entertaining served with salt and pepper squid or chicken and salad dishes.

Region: Tamar Valley, Northern Tasmania
Cellar: Ideal to enjoy now

Pirie Estate Chardonnay 2007

Pirie Estate Chardonnay 2007
The colour of this wine is yellow/green-gold which appears to be prerequisite for top, young chardonnay. There are complex aromas of hay, oyster shell, lemon butter and toffee with vanilla oak well back in the mix. Oak is less dominant on the palate than previous vintages allowing good mid-palate sweetness and soft textures. Fine acidity brings some minerality to a long finish.

Serve with poached salmon or seared tuna with hollandaise sauce.

Rosevears Chardonnay 2007
A bright, mid straw in colour, attractive ripe fruit aromas dominate with hints of yellow peach and musky, tropical fruits also showing through. There is a nice touch of oak adding complexity without detracting from the fruit and a little nuttiness derived from malolactic fermentation.
The palate is full and round with lots of ripe fruit flavours including peach, melon and passionfruit and just a little bit of spicy oak adding interest. There is plenty of fruit weight and mid-palate intensity. The finish is crisp and refreshing with enough acidity to balance the weight of fruit.

It has the flavour weight to team well with a simple roast chicken or a whole baked fish.

Year: 2007
Region: West Tamar Valley, Northern Tasmania
Cellar: Enjoy now or leave for 2-3 years to build complexity

South Chardonnay 2007

The bouquet shows citrus/grapefruit aromas, nutty complexity from lees contact, and a level of buttery, honeyed malo-lactic character. On the palate tangy citrus fruit flavours are backed up by flinty, mineral characters, layers of creamy/buttery richness from partial malo-lactic ferment, all balanced by fine acidity.

Team with Steamed white fish and pink-eye potatoes; or Cray fish with hollandaise.
