Coombend Vineyard 'The Mail Run' Cabernet Merlot 2006
A bright, deep crimson black Cabernet Merlot that has strong, ripe fruit aromas of cassis and spicy plum with only a hint of cool climate herbaceousness. The nose is strongly dominated by fruit with only a subtle layer of oak complexity.
Summer was dry and sunny resulting in this being one of our earliest vintages. These warm conditions show through with big ripe fruit flavours of cassis, blackberry and spicy plums with subtle complexity of nutty, toasty oak. There are firm tannins with good length and persistence of flavour and a pleasantly soft and balanced finish.
This is a big, full style of wine with real richness of flavour. Team it with a tender, juicy steak or a rich beef casserole.
